Sony's flagship do-everything camera, combining the original a1's high-resolution/high-speed feature set with the body and processing upgrades introduced in the a9 III and a7R V. It uses the same 50.1MP stacked full-frame sensor as the first a1, now paired with a dedicated AI processing unit that improves subject detection and tracking — including human pose estimation, and recognition of animals, birds, insects, cars, trains, and planes. Continuous shooting reaches 30 fps electronically (10 fps mechanical) with full AF/AE, and it adds Pre-Capture (buffers up to 1 second of frames before the shutter is fully pressed) and Speed Boost (mid-burst frame-rate switching via a dedicated button).
In-body stabilization is rated to 8.5 stops, a 3-stop jump over the original a1. Video specs carry over the a1's strong lineup — 8K/30p and 4K/120p in 10-bit — while adding Dynamic Active Mode Stabilization, Framing Stabilizer, and breathing compensation for smoother handheld and walking shots. The body inherits the a9 III's ergonomics and weather sealing, a 9.44M-dot EVF, a 4-axis multi-angle touchscreen, dual CFexpress Type A/SD card slots, and a 2.5GBASE-T Ethernet port for high-speed tethered transfer.
